The campaign for the September 8 elections officially starts this Thursday, August 26. The deadline for filing candidatures ended yesterday in a context marked by the surge in Covid-19 cases.
In a press release, the Ministry of the Interior recalled the measures and procedures in force, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Social distancing measures must be strictly observed, the department of Abdelouafi Laftit said, stressing the rigorous application of sanctions in case of non-compliance.
Thus, public electoral gatherings in closed and open spaces must not bring together more than 25 people. There will be no electoral feasts or tents installed in public spaces. During their field tours, the candidates must inform the local authorities of their itineraries. It is strictly forbidden to distribute leaflets in the streets, in public spaces or in front of doors.
