Morocco Launches Effort to Repatriate 195 Citizens Stranded in Libya

Morocco is working to repatriate its nationals stranded in Libya. At the helm, the Foreign Affairs services and their Libyan counterparts.
In total, 195 Moroccans are concerned by the repatriation operation. "The work carried out for the repatriation of Moroccans stranded in Libya has reached advanced levels," confides to Hespress a source within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, stating that "this process requires coordination with our Libyan brothers."
"The identities of the repatriates must be verified so that those who are not Moroccan cannot infiltrate the country," specifies the same source, noting that "there are migrants of different nationalities who pretend to be Moroccans." This observation pushes "the Foreign Affairs services to count the Moroccans in administrative detention to repatriate them."
During a visit to Rabat last August, Abdallah Hussein Al-Lafi, Vice-President of the Libyan Presidential Council, had announced the repatriation of 195 Moroccans detained in Libya to Morocco. According to his explanations, the two countries have started discussions on the issue. "A joint consular committee will hold a meeting in the coming days to discuss various files related to the Libyan communities in Morocco and Moroccans in Libya, including issues related to visas and air services," the senior Libyan official had announced.
