Morocco Launches Campaign to Combat Child Exploitation in Begging

"For his own good, don’t give him anything". This is the slogan under which the association Jood has been running since March 10, an awareness campaign against the begging to which children are subjected on the streets, markets and arteries of Moroccan cities.

The other thing that motivated the initiative is that children are drugged with medication to induce drowsiness. They are taught to stick to passers-by in order to extort money from them. The "For his own good, don’t give him anything" campaign runs until April 30 and should soon see the launch of a new stage to materialize the association’s commitment to defending children’s rights, with the online launch of a national petition, "so that the penalties in the laws are heavier and more binding on the adults who exploit children in the context of professional begging," explains Hin
