Morocco Launches New Campaign to Boost Civil Registration and Protect Children’s Rights

Under the theme "registration in the civil status is a constitutional right: I am registered, therefore I exist", the campaign was launched on Monday, April 29, as part of the implementation of the national strategy on democracy and human rights, particularly those of the child.
This campaign is an opportunity, according to the officials, to complete the work of the first phase, which took place between September 2017 and May 2018, and which allowed the registration of 23,151 children under the age of 18.
The Prime Minister’s circular emphasizes the principle of social mobilization, communication and coordination between the main actors and stakeholders, through the establishment of an interministerial committee that oversees the implementation of the Prime Minister’s directives, as well as regional and provincial committees for the registration of children in the civil status registers.
