Morocco Launches Anti-Gang Units in Three Cities to Combat Crime

The cities of Tetouan, El Jadida and Nador now have their anti-gang brigade (BAG). Created by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), they aim to contribute to the fight against crime.
In a press release, the DGSN announced that these new brigades will have the mission of "strengthening the mechanisms to fight crime, but also of strengthening the feeling of security among citizens". This is why the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Abdellatif Hammouchi, approved the creation of these brigades in Tetouan, El Jadida and Nador, which have been officially operational since Monday, April 18, 2022.
They are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and the necessary human resources to carry out the various tasks, which are the fight against criminal networks and drug and psychotropic substance trafficking, as well as the pursuit and arrest of wanted persons. They are also responsible for conducting criminal investigations and investigations into complex crimes. According to the DGSN, the goal is to extend the creation of these brigades to all Moroccan cities for an effective fight against crime.
