Morocco Launches Ambitious 2045 Airport Modernization Plan

Morocco plans to equip itself with a new National Airport Master Plan by 2045, the last one developed in 2013 having become obsolete.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) under the Ministry of Transport and Logistics has just launched a study to propose a development strategy for each airport based on the evolution of air traffic by 2045. In total, 20 airports are concerned by the study, reports Le360.
The last National Airport Master Plan dates back to 2013. Its study had been entrusted to the Advanced Logistics Group (ALG) office. The Covid-19 pandemic, which has severely affected the aviation sector and disrupted air traffic due to flight cancellations, justifies the need to update the data.
This health crisis has generated huge losses for airlines, some of which have ended up filing for bankruptcy. Others were able to get through thanks to the subsidies granted by the State, recalls the DGAC, stressing that airports and air navigation service providers have also been affected by this crisis which has led to a drastic decrease in the number of passengers and flights.
