Morocco has taken a new measure to simplify the life of Moroccans living abroad (MRE). This involves setting up 155 units in various consulates to assist them in managing their files.
Simplifying the life of MREs remains a priority for Morocco. In this sense, the ministry delegated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of MREs has set up 155 units in various consulates, specifically dedicated to processing their files, reports Al Massae. An announcement made by Nezha El Ouafi, the minister in charge, during a virtual meeting with Moroccans from the diaspora living in the Canary Islands.
Before the implementation of this new measure, the ministry had put in place an even broader system since the lockdown related to the health crisis. These include the establishment of a call center and 5 contact cells with Moroccans around the world, which have helped support MREs at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Nezha El Ouafi also acknowledged the efforts of the various stakeholders, which facilitated the return of 92,000 MREs to their countries of residence.
In addition to the establishment of 155 units in various consulates, the ministry delegated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of MREs has opened other projects to improve the services provided to Moroccans abroad. These include a project in the field of digital technology, the mobilization of skills, and the development of partnerships with civil society actors belonging to this category of Moroccans.
