Morocco to Launch Vaccine Production Hub for Africa by End of Next Year

Morocco proposes to ensure the supply of sub-Saharan Africa and the Maghreb with vaccines. This was announced by the Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb.
The "made in Morocco" vaccines will be manufactured in Tangier. According to the Minister of Health, "these projects will take a few months, but it is possible that by the end of next year, actual production will begin." Regarding the anti-Covid-19 vaccination campaign, he stated that arrangements are being made for it to start in mid-December. "Our wish is that it be very short and that it reaches 80% of those over 18, the high-risk population first, and that it offers widespread vaccination for a return to normalcy as soon as possible, next year," reports the MAP.
He stressed that in terms of combating the spread of Covid-19, Morocco has capitalized on some experience, especially after participating in clinical trials to find a vaccine capable of helping to fight the virus. For the minister, the choice of the vaccine was not made on a whim but after several negotiations and at the end of the successes and clinical trials. "We have targeted several firms and have, in the end, opted for the Chinese laboratory Sinopharm and the British-Swedish group Astrazeneca. The clinical trials of their vaccines are very convincing. For the other laboratories, the negotiations are still ongoing."
