Morocco to Launch Online ID Card Applications for Expatriates in 20 Consulates

Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) will soon be able to obtain their consular ID cards online in 20 consular services. The government claims it wants to make these services operational very soon.
In parliament on Monday, Nasser Bourita announced that the executive plans to review the consular map of the Kingdom in order to bring the services closer to the Moroccan community established abroad.
When questioned about the quality of services provided in Moroccan consulates, Bourita recalled that the Kingdom currently has 56 consulates and the objective is not to open more, but rather to review the consular map to support Moroccans in the world.
To this end, he noted, the consular representations in the suburbs of Paris, in Galicia (Spain), in northern Italy and in the Gulf countries and Africa could be reviewed, specifying that the improvement of the quality of consular services focuses on 4 axes, namely the improvement of reception conditions, digitalization and improvement of consular efficiency, services and proximity social actions.
On this occasion, the minister stressed that the number of the Moroccan community established abroad registered in the consulates currently stands at around 5.3 million people, a number that could exceed 6 million if the unregistered are included.
