Morocco’s King Pardons 810 Prisoners, Including Convicted Terrorists, for Eid Al Fitr

On the occasion of the celebration of Eid Al Fitr, King Mohammed VI granted a pardon to 810 people, including 17 detainees from Al Hoceima and 12 repentant terrorists convicted by various courts in the kingdom. These people convicted of various crimes are either at liberty or in detention.
In detail, 606 people in detention have benefited from the royal pardon, indicates a press release from the Ministry of Justice. In total, 576 detainees enjoy a remission of the prison or criminal sentence, 28 detainees enjoy the royal pardon on the prison sentence or its remainder, 2 detainees on the commutation of the life sentence to a fixed-term sentence. In total, 204 people at liberty benefit from the royal pardon: 62 people from the pardon on the prison sentence or its remainder, 1 person from the pardon on the prison and fine sentences, 131 people from the pardon on the fine sentence.
In total, 12 inmates convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism who participated in the 7th edition of the "Reconciliation" (Moussalaha) Program are among the beneficiaries of the royal pardon. 9 inmates have benefited from the pardon on the remainder of the prison sentence, while 3 enjoy the remission of the prison sentence. These inmates are repentants.
"In consideration of the family and human circumstances of the persons convicted in the context of the events in the Al Hoceima region, and in implementation of the royal will on all occasions, the King granted his royal pardon to 17 inmates on the remainder of the prison sentence," specifies the same source.
