Morocco’s King Pardons 755 Prisoners, Including Rif Protest Detainees and Terrorism Convicts

Mortada Iamrachen, who had been convicted of apology for terrorism, has just benefited from the pardon of King Mohammed VI granted to 755 detainees, including 107 people convicted during the events of the Rif and Jerada.
Mortada Iamrachen had been sentenced to 5 years in prison for apology for terrorism. A royal pardon on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr has just opened the doors of the prison for him. He has indeed been released.
107 detainees convicted during the Hiraks of Al Hoceïma and Jerada as well as 11 people convicted for terrorism cases have also benefited from this pardon. The total number of people who have benefited from the royal pardon on the occasion of Eid El Fitr is 755.
It should be noted that Mortada Iamrachen was sentenced in November 2017 to 5 years in prison, by the Criminal Chamber of the First Instance Court in charge of terrorism cases near the annex of the Court of Appeal in Salé. This sentence was confirmed on appeal, in 2018, also in November.
