Morocco’s King Orders Reopening of Mosques with Safety Measures

In Morocco, mosques are now allowed to reopen their doors. This announcement was made by Ahmed Toufiq, Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, before the House of Representatives, this Monday.
Good news for the faithful. Mosques will now reopen after months of closure. This decision, which comes from King Mohammed VI, is part of the easing of restrictive measures. During a question-and-answer session in the House of Representatives, Ahmed Toufiq, Minister of Habous and Islamic Affairs, specified that this reopening will be done in strict compliance with health safety measures. A schedule for this operation will be announced later, the ministry also said in a statement.
Prayers and Friday prayers will be performed in all mosques in compliance with the necessary preventive measures in the fight against the pandemic, particularly social distancing and the wearing of masks, the ministry said. Worshippers will be required to perform their ablutions before going to the mosques, as the ablution rooms will remain closed.
