Morocco’s King Offers Mecca Pilgrimage to 100 Sierra Leoneans, Strengthening Diplomatic Ties

King Mohammed VI has just offered 100 Sierra Leonean citizens the pilgrimage to Mecca, revealed the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, thus testifying to a significant rapprochement between Morocco and Sierra Leone.
During a joint press conference with his Sierra Leonean counterpart, Bourita testified to a significant evolution of bilateral relations. The joint commission, which met in Dakhla after a 15-year interruption, was an opportunity to seal many agreements.
These agreements, covering various sectors such as investment, tourism or renewable energies, were complemented by commitments in the field of training, both academic and professional. Sierra Leonean students will now benefit from 105 scholarships, including 20 in the southern provinces of Laâyoune and Dakhla.
Faithful to its position on the territorial integrity of Morocco, Sierra Leone has also put in place a diplomatic coordination mechanism between the two countries. Nasser Bourita stressed that these agreements aim to support the local population and strengthen cooperation in areas related to development in Sierra Leone.
The Moroccan minister also paid tribute to the resilience of Sierra Leone which, despite the trials and difficulties, has embarked on the path of democratic alternation and economic development.
