King Mohammed VI is currently in the United Arab Emirates. Described as private, this visit is strictly personal in nature. The Moroccan sovereign is expected to meet with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, in an informal setting, according to Barlamane.
The two leaders are expected to discuss issues of common interest, including bilateral investments, energy partnerships and recent geopolitical developments in the region, as well as exchange views on projects that will unite the two countries.
Relations between Morocco and the United Arab Emirates are excellent. On the diplomatic front, the two countries share converging positions on several international issues, including support for regional stability and the fight against transnational security threats. Economically, the United Arab Emirates is one of Morocco’s main economic partners, with major investments in the real estate, infrastructure and renewable energy sectors. New large-scale economic projects, particularly in the field of green technologies and logistics, which are at the heart of the cooperation between Rabat and Abu Dhabi, could also be on the agenda of the exchanges between the two leaders.
This royal trip comes at a time when the Gulf region is marked by multiple major challenges. Morocco is striving to position itself as a key player in several Middle Eastern crises. However, it relies on its historical role as a mediator to strengthen its alliances with key players in this area.
