Morocco’s King Mohammed VI Receives Chinese Sinopharm Vaccine, Launches National COVID-19 Campaign

King Mohammed VI launched the national vaccination campaign against Covid-19 on Thursday, February 28, in Fez. He was injected with the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine.
By choosing the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine, the sovereign has reassured Moroccans about its effectiveness. A way for King Mohammed VI to raise awareness among the Moroccan people about the importance of getting vaccinated.
To date, Hungary is the first European Union (EU) country to approve the vaccine from the Chinese laboratory Sinopharm. Prime Minister Viktor Orban says he trusts this vaccine.
Morocco is the first African country to launch the vaccination campaign against the new coronavirus after receiving 2 million doses of the vaccine developed by the British laboratory "Astrazeneca" and 500,000 vaccines from the Chinese laboratory "Sinopharm".
The kingdom intends, through this campaign, to immunize Moroccans and residents in Morocco in order to drastically reduce, or even eliminate, cases of contamination and death and contain the spread of the virus. This should gradually lead to a return to normal life.
