Morocco’s King Mohammed VI Pardons Nearly 1,000 Prisoners on Independence Day

On the occasion of the anniversary of the Independence Manifesto, King Mohammed VI granted a pardon to 991 people sentenced to prison terms in Morocco.
The beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon who are in detention number 707 inmates, distributed as follows:
• Pardon on the remainder of the prison or criminal sentence in favor of 10 detainees.
• Remission of the prison or criminal sentence in favor of 687 detainees.
• Commutation of the death sentence to life imprisonment in favor of one (01) detainee.
• Commutation of the life sentence to a fixed-term sentence in favor of 09 detainees.
The beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon who are at liberty number 284 people, distributed as follows:
• Pardon on the prison sentence or its remainder in favor of 86 people.
• Pardon on the prison sentence with maintenance of the fine in favor of 17 people.
• Pardon on the fine sentence in favor of 169 people.
• Pardon on the prison and fine sentence in favor of 12 people.
