Morocco's King Mohammed VI Mourns Passing of Tunisian President Essebsi

Following the death of President Béji Caïd Essebsi, King Mohammed VI sent a message of condolences to the President of the Assembly of People’s Representatives of Tunisia, Mohamed Ennaceur, and, beyond, to the Tunisian people.

The Moroccan Sovereign expressed his "great emotion and deep sorrow" upon learning of the passing of the Tunisian Head of State. In his own name and that of the Moroccan people, Mohammed VI conveyed to the President of Parliament, the family of the illustrious deceased, and the brotherly Tunisian people, his "heartfelt condolences and sincere feelings of compassion" following the disappearance of "one of the great men of Tunisia who dedicated their lives to serving their country and contributed with selflessness and dedication to the building of its modern state".

The sovereign says he remembers, in this difficult time, the high qualities of the deceased and the great political competence he has shown in the enlightened conduct of his country, particularly after his election as Head of State, adding that Béji Caïd Essebsi worked with seriousness and exemplary patriotism to complete and consecrate the democratic process of his country and to strengthen its renaissance and development, within the framework of security and stability.

Furthermore, emphasizing the deceased’s "sincere attachment to the unity and greatness of the brotherly Maghreb peoples", the King of Morocco says he remembers "with esteem the bonds of solid brotherhood and active solidarity that attached the deceased to the Kingdom and his firm determination to establish solid and exemplary cooperative relations between the two countries".

Mohammed VI, who shares the sorrow of the Tunisian people following this loss, implores the Almighty to grant "patience and comfort" to all Tunisians and to "amply reward the deceased for the laudable services rendered to his country and his nation" and to "welcome him in His holy mercy".
