Morocco’s King Mohammed VI Makes First Post-Pandemic Visit to France

King Mohammed VI traveled to France on Wednesday, June 1 as part of a private trip. This is his first trip to Europe since the end of the Covid-19 crisis.
According to a source close to the royal palace, the sovereign is in France for a few days, reports Jeune Afrique. He should stay in his castle in Betz, a small town located in the department of Oise, northeast of Paris. During his stay, will King Mohammed VI meet the French president? For now, no information has leaked about a possible meeting between the two personalities.
"Since the election of Emmanuel Macron in 2017, relations between Paris and Rabat have been erratic, punctuated by highs and lows," analyzes the Pan-African weekly. Latest incident to date, the reduction by France of visas granted to Maghreb countries, including Morocco, in retaliation for the refusal of said countries to repatriate their citizens subject to an expulsion measure. This decision had been strongly condemned by the Moroccan authorities.
