Morocco's King Mohammed VI Donates Maternal Health Clinic to Mali Amid Pandemic

A private clinic for maternal and child health, bearing the name of King Mohammed VI, has just been inaugurated in Bamako, Mali. This is the gesture of solidarity of the Moroccan Sovereign towards the Malian government and people in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

"The Mohammed VI Clinic for pre- and post-obstetric care in Bamako, made available to the Malian authorities to meet the challenges of coronavirus, is a health reference that will be of great service to the Malian people," said Michel Hamala Sidebe, Malian Minister of Health and Social Affairs, on Sunday to the MAP.

"This clinic, built by the Kingdom of Morocco, is a very beautiful gift in this month of Ramadan. It will greatly help us in the fight against the covid-19 epidemic, and also in the care of mothers and children," added the minister, who wished to express his thanks to the Sovereign, on behalf of the President of the Republic.

The large medical complex, carried out by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sustainable Development on an area of 5 hectares, of which 7,270 m² are covered, will be operational soon, announced the Moroccan Ambassador to Bamako, Hassan Ennaciri, who specifies that a Moroccan-Malian bilateral team is currently working to ensure its launch under excellent conditions.

"On royal instructions, we have agreed on a bilateral work plan, likely to accelerate the process of starting up the clinic, and based on two main axes, namely the material and legal aspects," said the Moroccan ambassador, adding that the preparations on the Moroccan side have been completed.
