Morocco’s King Mohammed VI to Chair Council on Budget Amendments and Economic Recovery

King Mohammed VI is expected to chair, before June 15, a council of ministers that will be devoted to the draft supplementary finance law.
According to the Rue20 website, the main orientations of the new PLF 2020 include, among other things, rescue plans for major public institutions, notably Royal Air Maroc (RAM), the National Airports Office (ONDA) and the National Railway Office (ONCF).
The reopening of borders would also be on the agenda, adds the site, citing government sources.
In addition to validating the new strategic orientations, the Sovereign could proceed to appoint new officials at the head of the High Commission for Planning, Bank Al Maghrib and the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion.
Two months of lockdown would have cost 6 points to Moroccan growth. "Each day of confinement costs 1 billion dirhams," the Minister of Finance had declared before the House of Representatives. Treasury revenues, on the other hand, show a daily deficit of 500 million dirhams.
