Morocco’s King Mohammed VI Allocates $1 Billion for Coronavirus Response Fund

King Mohammed VI has instructed the government council to create a special fund dedicated to managing the Coronavirus pandemic.
This fund, endowed with 10 billion dirhams, will be used, on the one hand, to cover the costs of upgrading the medical system, in terms of suitable infrastructure and additional emergency equipment to be acquired, indicates a royal communiqué.
It will also be used to support the national economy, through a series of measures to be proposed by the government, particularly in terms of supporting sectors vulnerable to the shocks induced by the Coronavirus crisis, such as tourism, as well as in terms of preserving jobs and mitigating the social repercussions of this crisis.
