Morocco’s King Launches $200 Million National Security Headquarters Project

King Mohammed VI yesterday, Wednesday, gave the start signal for the construction work of the new headquarters of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). This is to provide this important structure that ensures the security of all Moroccans with a representation that combines both modernity and efficiency.
With an overall budget of 2 billion dirhams, the building that will house the new DGSN headquarters comes to materialize the will expressed by the sovereign in his royal speech addressed to the Nation on the occasion of the throne feast of 2016. Indeed, Mohammed VI had invited the government to "provide the police institution with all the necessary human and financial resources to enable it to properly fulfill its missions".
The new DGSN headquarters will be built on a plot of land with a total area of 20 hectares. It will be built according to Moroccan architectural standards and will constitute a modern and integrated administrative complex, housing all the central directorates and services of the national security, as well as a conference room with a capacity of 1,200 seats.
The work on the new DGSN headquarters, which is scheduled to last 5 years, also includes a national security museum tracing the history of this institution, an archives center, a sports activities center, a center for identity data registration and national ID card printing, a reserve force accommodation center, a computer center and a parking lot with a capacity of 1,500 vehicles.
While the location in the Ryad district of the new DGSN headquarters and its connection to the road and highway network thanks to the southern bypass of Rabat will allow it to benefit from improved accessibility, it should also be noted that its realization respects international standards in terms of accessibility for people with reduced mobility, while aiming at the grouping of the different central services of the national security in a single building, which meets the highest security standards, and which integrates the latest cutting-edge technologies.
