Morocco’s King Condemns Border Blockade, Vows Firm Stance on Western Sahara

In his commemorative speech on the 45th anniversary of the Green March, King Mohammed VI expressed his firmness regarding "the unacceptable actions by which (the adversaries of the kingdom) seek to hinder the fluidity of traffic between Morocco and Mauritania.
"Morocco will remain firm in its positions and will not be swayed by the sterile provocations and desperate maneuvers of the other parties," the sovereign stressed, noting that "it must be acknowledged that the consummated decline of their outdated theses has precipitated them into the typical scenario of a flight forward."
The blockade of the El Guerguerat border crossing annoys the king. "We reiterate our categorical rejection of the unacceptable actions by which attempts are being made to hinder the fluidity of traffic between Morocco and Mauritania, to alter the legal and historical status prevailing east of the security wall, or to engage in an illegitimate exploitation of the region’s resources," he declared. Morocco is "convinced that the United Nations and MINURSO will continue to fulfill their duty by ensuring the preservation of the ceasefire in the area," he continued.
Already, politicians have deciphered Mohammed VI’s speech. "Morocco will not be influenced by the provocations," political scientist Moussaoui Ajlaoui told Le360. According to political scientist Mohamed Benhamou, "Morocco will face all the attempts aimed at touching its territorial integrity".
