Morocco’s King Appoints New Leaders to Five Key State Agencies

Changes at the head of five public institutions in Morocco. King Mohammed VI proceeded on Saturday to appoint new general directors to the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy, the National Highways Company of Morocco (ADM), the National Airports Authority (ONDA) and the National Ports Agency.
These appointments made on Saturday, during the meeting of the Council of Ministers held at the Royal Palace in Casablanca, aim to inject new momentum into these institutions in order to double the gross domestic product from $130 billion to $260 billion by 2035, said Mohamed Jadri, consultant and economic analyst, to the Al3omk website.
These changes made by King Mohammed VI are natural and consistent, added the expert, who explains that these mutations are necessary to adjust governance and achieve the set objectives, including a growth rate of 8%. In the same vein, appointments could also take place at the level of other institutions of the kingdom in the coming days.
"It is true that public investment represents two-thirds of total investment through the investment portfolio of public institutions, but this public investment needs to be reviewed to achieve the desired objective in several essential areas" such as food, health and energy security, the expert further said, stressing the need to invest in wealth and job-creating projects in order to reduce inequalities in the kingdom.
