Morocco Kicks Off Africa Cup of Nations Campaign Against Underdog Namibia
It’s a big day for the Moroccan football team, which is starting the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) today with a first match against the little-known Namibia team.
This much-anticipated match for Moroccan supporters should allow the players of the Kingdom to establish their status as favorites. And a victory could make people forget the two defeats last week in the warm-up matches against the Gambia and Zambia teams. A victory is therefore mandatory, especially since the hardest part is yet to come for the rest. Indeed, Morocco will have to face Ivory Coast, another favorite, and South Africa, a team that needs no introduction.
The match should also allow the "Atlas Lions" to reconquer the hearts of Moroccan supporters who still cannot forget Hamdallah’s departure and the disputes between certain players. The whistles against Fayçal Fajr in Marrakech have paralyzed some players.
For this match, Hervé Renard should play it safe and select the trusted players, in particular the irreplaceable Mehdi Benatia in defense, Hakim Ziyech up front to try to break through the Namibian defense, and probably Amrabat, Boutaïb and Belhanda.
Unfortunately, this match will not be broadcast live on Moroccan channels. To follow this unprecedented match live, you will have to point your satellite to "Eurosport", the German channels, or subscribe to a "BeIn" subscription.
