Morocco’s Kenitra Railway Station Wins Prestigious International Architecture Award

The National Railway Office (ONCF) was honored in Paris through the new Kenitra railway station. It has won a prestigious distinction.
The reforms implemented in the railway transport sector are already bearing fruit. At the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in Paris, Morocco was in the spotlight on Thursday, September 12.
Indeed, the Versailles World Architecture and Design Award, in the "Stations and Stations" category, was awarded to the new Kenitra railway station, which won the "Exterior" mention.
The honor fell to Chakib Benmoussa, Moroccan Ambassador to France, to receive the Award from the hands of Thomas Vonier, President of the International Union of Architects, Thomas Vonier, who is also a member of the 2019 jury.
For the Moroccan diplomat, this Award is first and foremost a recognition of the King for the major infrastructure and equipment projects in the country and the upgrading of cities, and, by extension, a consideration for the African continent. Chakib Benmoussa did not spare words of congratulations to the ONCF for this prestigious award.
In November 2018, King Mohammed VI had launched the work on the new Kenitra railway station, dedicated to the High Speed Train, Al Boraq. With a total cost of 400 million dirhams, the infrastructure built respects the strictest environmental standards.
