Morocco’s Jewish Community Thrives with 1,800 Members, Says Rabbi

Rabbi Yitzhak Sabag appreciated the independence enjoyed by the Jewish community in Morocco. To this effect, he described Morocco as a kingdom of grace.
The Moroccan Jew feels very comfortable in the kingdom, the Rabbi said in an interview given on Thursday to Arutz Sheva.
The rabbi also stated that many people from around the world come to visit the Moroccan Jewish community, especially the tombs of those righteous who saved the Jews during the Holocaust.
"We are a community of 1,500 to 1,800 members," said Rabbi Sabag, who recalled the existence of a global center for the teaching of the Torah, of which his wife is one of the managers.
Furthermore, the Rabbi welcomed the recognition of the rabbinical court by the kingdom, arguing that Morocco is the only country to accept it. "The rabbinical court is under the Ministry of Justice and the decision of the rabbinical court is considered a royal decision," he added.
