Morocco’s Jerada Province Eases COVID-19 Restrictions as Cases Decline

The anti-Covid-19 restrictive measures have been eased in the province of Jerada, following the recommendations of the provincial vigilance committee due to the decrease in the number of active cases.
In a statement, the provincial authorities recall that the exceptional measures will be maintained for another 7 days, renewable, starting from Tuesday, December 8 at 6 p.m. Among the eased measures, there is the night curfew imposed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. which has been lifted, the closure of cafes and restaurants imposed at 7 p.m. brought back to 9 p.m. As for the ban on the broadcast of football matches, it remains in place.
Added to this are the closure of commercial premises brought back to 8 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. as well as the cessation of commercial activities and street vendors at 7 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. As for game rooms, neighborhood playgrounds and public gardens, they remain closed. As for gatherings in public spaces, as well as weddings, funerals and family gatherings, they remain prohibited.
In addition, the reduction of the capacity of public transport (taxis and buses) to 50% remains in force. However, the reopening of the weekly "Kazi" market in the city of Jerada, the weekly market in the city of Aïn Bni Mahar and the weekly "Hassi Blal" market in Jerada is authorized, the statement notes. The closure of the "Al Massira" market in Jerada and the maintenance of sales points in the Al Massira district is still in place.
For the provincial authorities, preventive health measures (wearing a mask and social distancing) must still be respected. They recall that offenders will be punished in accordance with the legal provisions in force. According to the same source, these same measures could be imposed in the various localities of the province depending on the epidemiological situation. Citizens are also invited to scrupulously respect the preventive measures which remain the only effective means to fight against Covid-19.
