Morocco Issues Swimming Advisory for 23 Beaches After Water Quality Report

The annual report on the quality of bathing waters and beach sands in Morocco has been published by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development. 23 Moroccan beaches are declared non-compliant.
According to the document, the compliance rate of bathing waters has maintained stability since 2017. Out of the 493 sampling stations, only 430 were the subject of a sufficient number of samples for classification.
Thus, 379 stations (i.e. 88.14%) were declared to be of microbiologically compliant quality with the requirements of the Moroccan standard NM.03.7.199 and 23 beaches were not recommended, the same source specifies.
Here are the 23 beaches:
• Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima: Sabadilla, Rmod (Lmoud), Torres, Les amiraux (Playa Blanca), Tanger Municipale, Markala, Jbila III, Sidi Kacem, Asilah Port, Petite Plage.
• Rabat-Salé-Kénitra: Salé, Rabat, Témara, Sid El Abed, Aïn Atiq
• Casablanca-Settat: Essanawbar (David), Grand Zenata, Nahla, Aïn Sebaâ, Chahdia, Oued Merzeg, Lalla Aicha Bahria.
• Souss-Massa: Aghroud.
• Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab: Likheira
