Morocco-Israel Trade Surges 124% Despite Ongoing Palestinian Conflict

Trade between Morocco and Israel reached $8.5 million in June 2024, an increase of 124% compared to the same month the previous year, reveals the Abraham Institute for Peace Accords.
The volume of trade between the two countries in the first six months of 2024 stood at $53.2 million, an increase of 64% compared to the same period in 2023, the institute said in a publication on X, noting that these figures, drawn from a report published by the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, are a sign of the good health of economic relations between Rabat and Tel Aviv.
The same trend is observed with the other signatory countries of the Abraham Accords, namely the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Jordan and Egypt, whose trade with Israel has recorded a significant increase in the first half of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, the Institute notes, adding that "regional cooperation in the spirit of the accords is the key to achieving stability, prosperity and peace in the Middle East".
Trade between Israel and Egypt reached $35 million in June, an increase of 29% compared to 2023, and $246.6 million in the semester, up 53% compared to the same period in 2023. With Jordan, this trade stood at $35 million in June, a decrease of 14% compared to June 2023, and $213.8 million in the semester, a decrease of 16% compared to 2023.
The volume of trade between Israel and Bahrain reached $16.8 million in June 2024, up 740% compared to June 2023, and about $70.5 million in the first half, an increase of 879% compared to the same period the previous year. As for the United Arab Emirates, its trade with Israel reached $271.9 million in June, an increase of 5% compared to June 2023, and $1.66 billion in the first half, up 7% compared to 2023.
