Morocco Invests Billions in Major Airport Modernization Projects

The National Airports Office is going all out on the modernization of three airport platforms: Marrakech-Ménara, Agadir-Al Massira and Tanger-Ibn Batouta. Major works are planned to improve passenger reception and increase the capacity of these airports.
In Marrakech, the priority is given to fluidity. Reconfiguration of the terminal, expansion of the parking lot and improvement of access are on the program of this project estimated at 2.4 billion dirhams.
In Agadir, it is a real facelift that awaits the passenger terminal. In addition to the complete redevelopment of the existing infrastructure, an extension will increase the total area to 75,000 m². Total cost of the operation: 2 billion dirhams. In addition, the control tower and other buildings will be rebuilt to meet safety and performance requirements. The airport will also have a larger aircraft parking lot that can accommodate four additional medium-haul aircraft. Finally, the car park will see its capacity doubled.
Tangier is not left out with the construction of a new 70,000 m² passenger terminal. This project, costing 2.4 billion dirhams, also includes a central building dedicated to boarding and disembarking, as well as a new control tower. A car park is also planned.
