Morocco Invests 1.1 Billion Dirhams to Expand Casablanca’s Highway Infrastructure

The National Motorway Company of Morocco (ADM) is embarking on a major construction project around Casablanca. Objective: to ease traffic around the metropolis.
Thus, two black spots are in the sights: the Ain Harrouda and Sidi Maarouf motorway interchanges. An investment of 1.1 billion dirhams is planned to modernize these essential infrastructures.
This project is not limited to relieving traffic congestion. It is part of a broader desire to support the development of the entire Casablanca-Settat region. Facilitating access to the Grand Stade de Casablanca is also one of the priorities.
To the south of the city, the Sidi Maarouf interchange will undergo a real metamorphosis. Goodbye to dangerous intersections! Make way for a hybrid three-level interchange, combining "cloverleaf" and "turbine" configurations. Eight engineering structures will be built, the motorway will go to 2 × 5 lanes and new ramps will be created.
To the north, it is the Ain Harrouda interchange that is concerned. The motorway will be widened to 2 × 8 lanes to absorb the constant flow of 120,000 vehicles that use it every day. Here again, the crossings will be eliminated and ten engineering structures will emerge from the ground. The objective is twofold: to streamline traffic and improve access to Mohammedia and its industrial zone.
To carry out these titanic works, ADM has gone all out. The Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Casablanca-Settat region are participating in the financing. It is ADM Projet, a subsidiary of the company, which will be responsible for the realization. The construction site should last 22 months.
