Morocco to Invest $82 Million in Mosque Construction and Renovation for 2022

In 2022, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs plans to invest more than 758 million dirhams in the construction and renovation of mosques across the country.
According to the sectoral budget of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, adopted last week in parliament, more than 758 million dirhams will be mobilized for the construction and renovation of mosques.
Thus, Morocco will have 15 new mosques in 2022, the construction of which should cost 120 million dirhams, the document indicates. The ministry led by Ahmed Taoufiq also announced the completion of the work and the opening of 157 mosques in September 2021, specifying that these places of worship have been erected in partnership with associations and patrons. This momentum will continue in 2022 and to this end, 13 plots of land will be made available to partners, it assured.
For the year 2022, Morocco also plans to complete the construction of the Mohammed VI Mosque in Conakry, Guinea, for 127 million dirhams, as well as the renovation work on the Mohammed VI Mosque in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, for 9 million dirhams.
