Morocco Introduces Video Appointments for French Visa Applications to Combat Fraud

Since September 18, 2024, applicants for French visas in Morocco can make an appointment by video call at the visa center in Rabat, TLScontact has announced. A measure aimed at combating fraud.
This new system concerns Schengen visas for family, tourist or private visits, for scientific research, business trips, paid internships, cultural, artistic, scientific or sporting events, one-off missions, or for employees in the service of a foreigner or a French person.
The visa appointment is obtained after filling out a visa application form, available on the France-Visas website, and registering on the TLScontact website. The applicant will see a notification on the platform indicating that their file has been taken into account.
Once this step is completed, the TLS call center will contact the applicant via a video call to verify their identity. On this occasion, the applicant will have to present their passport. After which, they will receive an email informing them of the favorable or unfavorable outcome of the procedure and the date of their appointment depending on availability. The related fees will be paid on site, on the day of the appointment.
The application can be kept for 45 days, from the day of the video call confirmation. If after this deadline the applicant does not obtain an appointment, they will be forced to register again. According to TLS, this new system aims to limit visa fraud, fueled by networks of appointment intermediaries.
