Morocco Intensifies Wild Boar Control Efforts to Protect Crops and Biodiversity

About 860 wild boars have been shot in the Souss-Massa region since the start of the hunting season until December 31st.
In total, the Regional Directorate of Water and Forests and the Fight against Desertification of the Southwest has organized 110 drives, including 63 for the month of December alone as part of this campaign "aimed at controlling wild boar populations".
The objective of these drives is to "better protect biodiversity in this region and thus improve the management of damage caused to crops by wild boars" and to "protect the inhabitants and their property," the regional directorate said in a statement.
Other drives are planned in the coming weeks in order, it is said, to "reach all the black spots and shoot as many wild boars as possible."
