Morocco to Install X-Ray Scanner at Ceuta Border Crossing for Enhanced Security

The Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration (ADII) has launched a call for tenders since June 19 for the acquisition, installation and commissioning of an X-ray scanner at the Bab Sebta post.
This new installation, according to the estimates of the customs administration, should cost 384,000 dirhams, reports TelQuel. For the Moroccan-Spanish authorities, it is urgent that this X-ray scanner be installed so that the agents can be trained to use it, since the system must include "software that allows the detection of explosives, narcotics, and many others".
The Tarajal border post, which connects Ceuta and Morocco, was opened under certain conditions such as the formal prohibition of smuggling and other goods. The director of customs for the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region, Abdel Hakim Zahaf, is committed to it and has indicated that all measures will be taken for a thorough control.
For the record, the Bab Sebta crossing point was reopened on May 16 after two years of closure.
