Morocco’s Industry Minister Touts Economic Resilience and Growth Post-COVID

The Covid-19 pandemic has spared no Nation. At the end of this crisis, the Minister Moulay Hafid Elalamy of Industry, Trade, Green Economy and Digital Affairs assesses the industrial situation of his country. The minister affirms without ambiguity that Morocco, against all odds, has been able to take advantage of this crisis as a springboard.
In the introduction to his column published on the website of the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency, Minister Moulay Hafid Elalamy salutes the "visionary Vision and leadership" of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. He argues that this period has been an opportunity for the kingdom to reveal itself, through its responsiveness, agility and efficiency.
The industrial sector has proven to be very promising during the health crisis. The minister also reveals that the agri-food sector has experienced an increase six times higher than normal.
Beyond that, he cites the textile sector which has also achieved feats. Elalamy mentions the daily production of 12.5 million protective masks. This production is intended for both domestic and international demand. Also, the Kingdom has been able to meet the need for medical equipment, producing its own equipment such as artificial respirators that meet international medical standards. From the minister’s analysis, thanks to industrial research, the country has achieved products with high technological content and international standards.
The minister also believes that the kingdom must rely on its assets to relaunch the economy. To this end, he has engaged his department to support the Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE) in this crucial phase of economic recovery. In this sense, a weekly newsletter has been made available by AMDIE. The minister is convinced that this bulletin will be useful throughout the recovery period. At the end of his analysis, he makes Maurice Blondel’s thought his leitmotif: "The future is not predicted, it is prepared." And to add in conclusion that "The Future is not suffered, it is planned".
