Morocco Increases Hajj Supervisors to 800 for Mecca Pilgrimage

The supervisors will be a little more numerous this year than last year to support and assist all Moroccan pilgrims traveling to Mecca. This is what the Saudi authorities have decided.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, in response to a question asked in Parliament. Ahmed Toufiq reported that Saudi Arabia has approved Morocco to increase the number of supervisors from 650 to 800 this year (Hajj 1440).

The Minister also announced that all regions and provinces will be provided with supervisors. In addition, they will be known, so that Moroccan pilgrims can contact them before and during the journey to the holy sites of Islam.

These supervisors, according to the Minister, will be trained so that they are aware of the new developments, particularly regarding the procedures. This will prevent the setbacks of last year, Toufik promised, referring to the transportation and accommodation difficulties experienced by many Moroccan pilgrims.

It is thus planned that each supervisor will take care of about fifty Moroccan pilgrims, the Minister said, noting that among the novelties of this year is "the less and less frequent use of the two-group-per-bus system (for 60% of the pilgrims), through the mobilization of 330 new buses". In addition, the Saudi airport authorities have agreed to a request made by Royal Air Maroc for a less intense flight schedule, so that the stay of the faithful in Saudi Arabia does not exceed 30 days, he said.

Regarding meals, Ahmed Toufiq promised Moroccans fresh products cooked on site and not canned food.
