Morocco Imposes Strict Movement Restrictions to Combat Coronavirus Spread

Faced with the coronavirus, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Health took new restrictive measures on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, which are now mandatory for citizens.
A joint statement from the two ministries indicates that one of the decisions taken concerns the limitation of citizens’ movements, particularly in public places and spaces. These movements will now be conditional on the "absolute necessity of shopping, seeking medical care and going to work".
Similarly, it was decided that citizens observe a "health isolation" in their homes. This will help limit the spread of the virus.
"Local authorities and public forces, national security and the Royal Gendarmerie, will guide citizens to comply with the implementation of these measures taken in the general interest of the Moroccan people".
In addition, the two ministries insist on the "imperative to comply with the hygiene and physical safety rules announced by the health authorities, calling on citizens who may have symptoms related to the virus to go exclusively to the authorized health centers".
