Morocco Imposes Ramadan Night Curfew, Exempts Essential Workers

Morocco has imposed a night curfew for Ramadan, thus strengthening the containment measures taken to curb the spread of the coronavirus. However, a list of Moroccans authorized to circulate exceptionally has been established.

Health, medical and paramedical staff, medical transport, pharmaceutical personnel, agents and auxiliary authorities, security services, Royal Armed Forces (FAR) services, civil protection services, the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) services, customs and indirect tax administration services and people in medical emergency are authorized to circulate exceptionally during the night curfew, specifies a press release from the Ministry of the Interior.

As for people working in on-call services, in public administrations and the executives of public media establishments and private radio stations, they are required to have a certificate signed and stamped by their superiors in the establishments concerned justifying their night work.

The intervention teams operating in the basic public utility sectors (water, electricity, sanitation and cleaning, telecommunications, highways), the religious officials in charge of calling to prayer in the mosques and the people working in activities directly related to the daily life of citizens and requiring night work such as butchers, bakeries, as well as people in charge of the transport of goods, are also concerned by this decision.

Not to mention the people working in industrial, agricultural and maritime fishing activities that require night work, including the pharmaceutical, textile, agri-food, energy and mining industries, the port and aviation sectors and the staff of call centers and security and cash transport companies.
