Morocco Imposes 8 PM Curfew, Closes Restaurants in Major Cities to Combat COVID-19

By imposing a curfew, the Moroccan authorities are also targeting restaurants, cafes and other large retail establishments, which must close at 8 p.m. The curfew and the new restrictive measures came into effect on Wednesday, December 23.
Contrary to those in other cities, the restaurants in Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir and Tangier will have to remain closed for three weeks, but can, if they wish, continue home delivery. These decisions were made to strengthen the emergency health procedures in effect since last March.
Good news for snack bar owners, who are not affected by the ban on opening in the cities mentioned. As for the restaurants that depend on hotels, they can only serve their customers, and must close at 8 p.m. as indicated by the decision of the authorities.
These new measures have been taken by the authorities to curb the spread of the pandemic, which seems to resist all therapies. Morocco now has 30,233 active cases under treatment. 934 patients are in critical condition (including 111 new cases in the last 24 hours) while 82 are intubated.
