Morocco Implements New Customs Regulations to Streamline Import Process

The customs services have announced several changes that will come into effect as of October 1, 2019.
Among these new measures, as of October 1st, import goods declarations will have to include the 4-digit HS number, reports L’économiste.
Indeed, this is a number that will allow anticipating customs clearance and therefore the release of goods from customs premises, details the same media. However, carriers are still allowed to use the generic code 9999 in cases where the information received from foreign partners would not allow them to make the declaration under their own HS4.
Furthermore, the customs services have specified that the same treatment applies to special operations such as the importation of personal effects as part of a move.
