Morocco Human Rights Official Faces Sexual Harassment Allegations

Sex scandals are leaving the university environment for the human rights field. A former senior official of the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights (DIDH) in Morocco who became a senior executive of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) is involved in a case of sexual blackmail. Four complaints have been filed for sexual harassment against the latter.
According to the daily Assabah, four DIDH officials filed a complaint for sexual harassment against a senior official of the administrative and financial affairs division of the institution. The facts date back to 2021 and the Delegation has stated in a press release that it was aware of this file and even transmitted to the Public Prosecutor’s Office all the information relating to this case. The senior official burdened by the complaints has left the DIDH. The institution apologized to the complainants for not being able to protect them from what happened in its premises.
The accused is not currently being prosecuted. He even managed to join another human rights organization, the CNDH, in July 2021, as part of a reorganization of its administrative and financial services. Informed of the case, the CNDH announced the opening of its own investigation, and to take the necessary measures because this case goes against its principles.
It is this senior official who had made a request for observation during the hearings of the trial held in camera and in which teachers are being prosecuted for sexual harassment in Settat. But the request was rejected by the court.
