Morocco’s Human Rights Council Meets with Rif Hirak Detainees’ Families, Signaling Potential Breakthrough

The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) recently held a meeting with the association of families of Hirak detainees. This event could signal the beginning of a solution, according to some civil society actors.
Ahmed Zefzafi, who chairs the Tafra association, met with the president of the CNDH, Amina Bouayach, to discuss the detention conditions of Hirak activists and family visits.
According to Alyaoum24, this meeting marks a turning point in the Hirak activists’ case. For Khalid El Bakkari, a human rights activist, the reception of the Tafra association by the CNDH can be interpreted as a positive change and a step forward in resolving this issue.
El Bakkari believes that Amina Bouayach, given her proximity to the higher spheres of authority, can only positively influence the Hirak file, and likely has the green light for possible mediation.
