Morocco's Hot Air Balloon Team Soars at World's Largest Balloon Festival in France

500,000 visitors attended the closing of the world’s largest balloon event. The "Mondial air ballons" took place at the Chambley airfield, north of France, from July 26 to August 4, 2019. Morocco was represented by the only team, at the level of Arab and African countries, led by Hicham Zrikem.

Hicham Zrikem, the first hot air balloon instructor-pilot in Morocco, was very proud to carry the Moroccan flag, from the top of his balloon. This is the fourth time he has participated in a world event, which takes place every two years, after the 2013, 2015 and 2017 editions.

Operations Manager within a hot air balloon tourism company in Marrakech, Zrikem did not fail to express his desire to see Morocco host such an international event. He underwent his training at the Pilâtre-de-Rozier International Aerostatic School.

The "Mondial air ballons", the largest gathering of hot air balloons in the world, brings together more than 1,000 hot air balloons and more than 1,000 pilots, from the 7 continents. Aeronautical demonstrations, kites and original balloons in new shapes are part of the program offered to the public.
