Morocco Hospital Bills Dead Woman 2026 Medical Care Scandal
Tétouan Civil Hospital demands payment for medical services from a woman who died in late 2023. This absurd administrative follow-up, accompanied by threats of legal action, has sparked outrage among the family and internet users.
The collection notice grants a fifteen-day deadline to settle the sum of 75 dirhams, failing which the file will be transmitted to the competent authorities. The document is legally based on articles 40 and 79 of the hospital regulations dated July 2010. Yet the patient targeted by this notice died on December 15, 2023. More troubling still, the debt corresponds to medical services allegedly provided on June 5, 2026, more than two years after the recipient’s death. The Achkayen media was able to consult a copy of this official correspondence sent by the establishment’s management.

Widely shared on social media, the photograph of this letter has sparked considerable confusion. This incident reignites the debate on the lack of synchronization between civil registry records and public institution files. Several observers denounce a major failure in data updating, a source of embarrassment for the administration and pain for relatives.
