Morocco Holidays: Belgian Health Insurance Document BM111 Guide

Belgian legislation beneficiaries can benefit from coverage of certain healthcare services in Morocco, provided they have the BM111 document issued by their health insurance fund.

Taking a holiday in Morocco may also require an administrative precaution. A bilateral agreement indeed links Belgium and Morocco in terms of healthcare. It allows those covered by Belgian legislation to access, under certain conditions, coverage of care that becomes immediately necessary during their stay in Morocco.

To benefit from it, you must request the BM111 document from your health insurance fund before departure. This document allows access to healthcare in Morocco when it is urgent or immediately necessary during the stay.

A document valid for only three months

NAMI reminds, however, that the BM111 is only valid for three months. It also cannot be used if the trip to Morocco is solely for medical treatment purposes.

Once there, the beneficiary must present the BM111 to the Moroccan healthcare provider or a Moroccan insurance organization. Reimbursement is then calculated according to the rates in force in Morocco at the time of care.

What to do without the BM111?

If the beneficiary does not have the BM111 document during their stay, two solutions are available. They can first contact their health insurance fund to obtain it.
