Morocco to Hold National Exams After COVID-19 Lockdown, Education Ministry Confirms

The end-of-year exams will indeed take place in Morocco, despite all the rumors saying they were canceled. The Ministry of National Education says that students will be summoned after the confinement period.
According to the director of curricula at the Ministry of National Education, to succeed in organizing these exams, the academies and provincial delegations will take preventive measures, in particular in terms of reducing the number of candidates in a classroom, distancing (one meter), disinfection of chairs and exam papers.
For the daily Assabah, these clarifications come after parents of students expressed their concerns about a possible cancellation of the exams, given the spread of the coronavirus. They feared that the supervisory department would follow the example of France which validated these tests based on the continuous assessment grades. They therefore asked the Ministry of National Education to rule on this issue to remove any ambiguity, especially since the exam dates are approaching.
According to the same media, the ministry did not hesitate to respond to these questions by confirming that there would be no blank year, given that the schools had carried out, since the beginning of the school year in September, until the entry into force of the confinement, 80% of the school programs. The remaining 20% will be caught up after the lifting of confinement, which will take place gradually.
In addition, support programs will be provided to students after the end of the confinement period. As for the exam dates, they will be set according to the duration of the confinement. Continuous assessments will take place and programs will be developed for all students to support them in preparing for the exams.
