Morocco Held to 1-1 Draw by Ivory Coast in African Cup Warm-Up Match
The Atlas Lions of Morocco drew 1-1 on Saturday evening against the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire in a friendly match.
The Ivorians opened the scoring through Sébastien Haller at the end of the first half, before Ayoub El Kaabi of Olympiacos equalized for Morocco in the 80th minute.
Walid Regragui, the Moroccan national coach, did not hide his disappointment with the performance of his team. However, he highlighted the challenges of football in Africa, citing the climatic conditions, considering this match as a learning opportunity for his players.
The preparation of the Lions for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) continues. They will play against Liberia on October 17 at the Grand Stade d’Agadir, as part of the CAN-2023 qualifiers.
