Morocco Heightens Security After Al-Qaeda Leader’s Death in US Strike

Following the death of the Egyptian Ayman Al Zawahiri, head of Al-Qaeda, killed on the night of Saturday, July 30 to Sunday, July 31 in Afghanistan by an American strike, the Moroccan security services are on alert to ward off possible terrorist attacks.
The Moroccan security and intelligence services have increased the level of vigilance since the announcement of the death of Osama bin Laden’s successor, according to the sources cited by Maghreb-Intelligence.
In recent days, the Moroccan services have been coordinating more with Western, American, Spanish and French intelligence, in particular to ward off possible terrorist attacks in these countries, but also in the Sahel region where Al Qaeda has regained strength, the same sources specify.
According to experts on terrorism, it is thanks to Al Zawahiri that Al Qaeda has extended its network, covering practically all corners of the planet.
